One of the most famous university cities in the world and the seat of the Oxford University founded in the 12th century. Built in Gothic and Neo-Gothic tenement houses, churches and collegiate buildings, the city center is a great place for walks.

The University of Oxford consists of a dozen or so independent colleges founded at different times. The oldest of them is University College. University buildings are scattered throughout the city. Many of them are not available to visitors and can be viewed only from the outside, others are guided tours. During them, visitors can look into the representative rooms, courtyards or libraries.

The center of Oxford is a small square, in the center of which stands the round building of the 16th century Bodleean Library, in which, among others, Magna Carta and the first edition of the Gutenberg Bible are stored. There is also a university church nearby, from which the tower offers a beautiful view of the city and the surrounding area. University colleges also run their museums, where you can see the work of such masters as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo or Rafael.

The university surroundings abound in parks and green areas where you can walk, run or Nordic walking.
