Cotswolds AONB
The Cotswolds is an area in south-central England, covering The Cotswold Hills - a range of hills rising from the mouth of the Thames to the escarpment known as the Cotswold Edge, above the Severn Valley and Evesham Vale. AONB is an abbreviation of "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" referring to the beauty of landscapes in the indicated area.
The Cotswolds is the second largest protected landscape in Great Britain covering an area of over two thousand square kilometers. Traveling around this area we come across picturesque historic villages built of unique golden Cotswolds stone. What's more, this area is also unique for another reason: Cotswold is found in Jurassic limestone that forms a rare grassland habitat type in the UK. Therefore, the area attracts not only foreign tourists, but also English people, which makes the Cotswolds a very well-developed region.
