Nałęczów is a health resort and tourist destination known since the 19th century for its mineral waters and an excellent climate supporting the treatment of heart diseases. Its heart is the extensive Spa Park with historic buildings and modern thermal baths.
The town was founded in the mid-18th century by Stanisław Małochowski and was named after his family coat of arms, Nałęcz. Previously, the village of Bochotnica existed in this area, but it was not very important. The rapid development of Nałęczów took place in the 19th century, when mineral waters were discovered here.
In the 19th century, after the January Uprising, Nałęczów was purchased by Michał Górski. He is considered to be the creator of the local health resort. With the help of doctors and architects, he created a health resort with the character of a garden city. Its central part still remains the 25 hectare Spa Park, which includes, among others, The Małachowski Palace, the mineral water pump room - the palm house, the Prince Józef Sanatorium, the Old Łazienki Park, the Spa House and the Palace Baths built at the beginning of the 21st century.
Górski also had the ambition to make Nałęczów a cultural center. For this reason, he invited many writers and artists, who would later describe the resort they had visited. Among the guests of Nałęczów at that time were Henryk Sienkiewicz, Stefan Żeromski and Bolesław Prus. To this day, you can visit the Stefan Żeromski Museum in the wooden hut and the Bolesław Prus Museum.
Nałęczów, apart from typical spa attractions, also offers tourists the opportunity to see nice architecture. The spa, wooden church of St. Charles Borromeo built in a style reminiscent of Zakopane. In Aleja Lipowa you can also see many beautiful villas from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
