Houses of Przybyła Brothers
Local name: Kamienice Przybyłów
Przybyłów townhouses are the most impressive buildings on the Market Square in Kazimierz Dolny. Their name comes from the names of the owners - brothers Mikołaj and Krzysztof. The buildings delight the tourists with richly decorated facades, which are covered with numerous bas-reliefs.
The buildings were decorated with works depicting biblical characters and images of saints. In addition, we will see mythological, plant and animal motifs as well as medieval fantasies and renaissance grotesque. Between the windows there are reliefs showing the patrons of the owners - Saint Christopher and Santa Claus.
Buildings were built in the early seventeenth century in the style of the Italian and Dutch Renaissance. They consist of two floors separated by a powerful cornice and a steep roof masked by high attic. Thanks to this solution, townhouses appear to be higher than they really are.
