Kudowa-Zdrój is a spa and tourist town at the foot of the Table Mountains. It is a great starting point for hiking on the Błędne Skały and other nearby routes, and its greatest attraction is the Skull Chapel.
The town consists of several former villages joined together after the Second World War. Some of them, such as Słonne or Czermna, are located on the Polish-Czech border, so that the border posts stand in the courtyards of the houses.
The central part of Kudowa-Zdrój is occupied by the extensive Spa Park, which on the slopes of the surrounding mountains turns into a half-wild grove with walking paths. In its main part there is a pond with a fountain, wide alleys, a walking hall and a square surrounded by the Mineral Water Pump Room, former mineral baths and the 19th century Sanatorium Polonia.
Kudowa also offers attractions for families with children. These are the Water World Aquapark and the Toy Museum, which is small but rich in exhibits. There is also a private Frog Museum, which collects a collection of items with images of frogs and other amphibians, promoting their protection.
The districts of Czermna and Pstrążna are very attractive for tourists. In Czermna, there is the historic Church of St. Bartholomew with a baroque bell tower. In the 18th century, the Skull Chapel was built next to the church. The remains of the victims of the Silesian wars and subsequent waves of epidemics are placed here. The Dying Professions Trail is located near the church. In one of the farms, in a historic cottage, you can try your hand at weaving, pottery and baking bread.
In Pstrążna, on the other hand, you can visit the Museum of Folk Culture of the Sudetes Foothills. An exhibition depicting the life of the former inhabitants of the area has been prepared here in a dozen or so huts and farm buildings.
