The complex consists of six forts and few bastions with over 150 rooms in total. Since 1973, the museum of heavy weapons operates here. The biggest fort Donjon is also opened for visitors.
The tour leads through the courtyard and underground casemates until it reaches viewpoints on the fort's crown. The complex offers the historic shooting range, zip-line which provides extreme ride on 570-meter route among the castle's walls, and also the rich military collection of cannons from World War II. The area of the bastion contains bike track for the youngest, catering, souvenir shop and shows of Srebrna Góra regiment.The castle was built in the second half of the 18th century and is one of the biggest objects of that type in Europe and also the most interesting military object in Lower Silesia. The garrison had over 3 thousand soldiers. 264 cannons and mortars were used for a defense. The castle was never taken.The large castle was built on the order of King of Prussia Frederick II. The fortification was an important part of a defense against the Austrian army. In the 19th century, it lost its strategic value and was used as a prison. During World War II, a captive camp was created where mainly Polish officers where prisoned. It was renovated in 1965 with the help of Polish scouts and youth from mining schools.Less
