Karłów is a small tourist town at the foot of Szczeliniec Wielki. Due to its location, it is a good starting point for hiking in the Table Mountains.

The village was founded in the first half of the 18th century and its inhabitants earned their living mainly by working in the forest. At the end of the 18th century, the area around the village was fortified. At that time, Charles Fort, the remains of which are today a popular excursion destination.

Since the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, tourists have become interested in the vicinity of Karłów, especially Szczeliniec Wielki and Szczeliniec Mały. Franz Pabel, the pioneer of the local tourism, was the first to lead tourists to the mountains.

As 200 years ago, the main goal of tourists coming to Karłów is the entrance to Szczeliniec Wielki. On the plateau, which descends steep slopes to the village, there is a shelter in Szczeliniec and a rock labyrinth called Hell. There are also great viewpoints that allow you to admire the panoramas, with good visibility, including Śnieżka and Pradziad, located in the Czech Republic.

In Szczeliniec, as in the entire vicinity of Karłów, there are also interesting rock outcrops. Among them there are Rock Mushrooms and White Rocks, which can be reached by hiking trails.
