The first records of the use of mineral waters in Duszniki come from the 15th century. However, they were not used on a larger scale until almost 200 years later, and in 1748 the first chemical analyzes of the local waters were carried out. The health resort started its activity in the second half of the 18th century, quickly gaining the reputation of a fashionable health resort.
In its history, Duszniki was also an industrial town. Weaving and metallurgy developed here in particular. An important date in the history of the city was the construction of a baroque wooden Paper Mill, which today houses the Museum of Papermaking. It is one of the most important attractions of Duszniki-Zdrój, which has a chance to be entered on the UNESCO list.
The heart of the spa is the Spa Park with the Mineral Water Pump Room, the Colorful Fountain and the wooden Chopin Manor House built at the beginning of the 19th century. The composer gave two concerts there in 1826, during his stay in the city. Currently, concerts are held here and the Chopin Festival attracts music lovers from all over the country to Duszniki.
In addition to the spa part, in Duszniki, you can see a picturesque market square surrounded by tenement houses from various eras and the Church of St. Peter and Paul, with a unique whale-shaped pulpit.
