Kocobędz is a town in the historic Cieszyn Silesia, where there is a well-known archaeological park presenting the life of local people in the Late Iron Age.
The town is one of the oldest in this area. It was founded at the beginning of the 13th century, but the archaeological finds show that people lived here already in antiquity. The history of these areas in the Polish-Silesian-Czech-German border has been very complicated over the years. They changed the nationality many times, and now the ethnic composition of the inhabitants is diverse.
The Archaeological Park was established on the basis of archaeological excavations in the vicinity of Kocobędz. It is a reconstruction of a settlement from the Late Iron Age and the early Middle Ages. Its location is identified with the place where Cieszyn originally was located. In the settlement, you can meet animators who recreate the everyday life of the population, craftsmen and warriors, as well as try your hand at workshops of various crafts.
