The town square was built at the end of the 19th century. Since then, it has undergone several major renovations, during which part of the historic tenement houses were demolished. Currently, it houses, among others Silesian Theater and Tourist Information Center. At noon, the Katowice bugle call is heard from the top of one of the tenement houses.
