Silesian Museum

Local name: Muzeum Śląskie

A complex of buildings located on the site of a former mine. The Silesian Museum gathered 118,000 exhibits. They include numerous works of art, products related to the Silesian industry and objects related to the European theater. It is one of the largest museums in Upper Silesia - in addition to temporary exhibitions, 7 permanent exhibitions have been installed at the Silesian Museum.

The Museum's most valuable collections include the works of the greatest Polish painters from the 19th and 20th centuries, among others Stanisław Wyspiański, Jan Matejko, Józef Chełmoński, Artur Grottger and Jacek Malczewski.

The Silesian Museum also has a sightseeing route tailored to the needs of the blind and visually impaired persons.
