Pszczyna Castle

Local name: Zamek w Pszczynie

Pszczyna Palace, commonly known as Pszczyna Castle, serves today as a headquarters of the Castle Museum consisting of wonderful Renaissance apartments, armory and the Miniatures Room. In the past, this former residence of nobles was resided by Opole-Racibórz, Opawa and Cieszyn princes. The building was constructed in the 11th or 12th century. It's surrounded by the wonderful English-style landscape park.

Pszczyna Castle is currently considered an example of Neo-Baroque architecture. However, it's safe to assume that it was of a different style in the beginning because its today's look is a result of the thorough renovation carried out at the end of the 19th century.

The apartments bear traces of the past - from Renaissance to the 19th century. They are equipped with original antique furniture finished with an old paneling and decorated with aged paintings.

The castle's cellar serves as an armory with display units such as executioner swords, samurai armors or cavalry's lances.
