Located right next to the border with Poland, Harrachov is a popular winter sports center, as well as the seat of the oldest crystal glassworks in the Czech Republic, which operates to this day and is open to the public.
Harrachov was founded in the 17th century and has since become a thriving center for the production of crystal glass. The oldest of the local smelters belonged to the Novosad family and is still active today. In its historic buildings there is a tourist route, during which you can learn the secrets of making glass objects and watch the work of craftsmen. There is also a small craft brewery with its own brewery and restaurant in the former steelworks. Harrachov, located in the Giant Mountains, is a well-known winter sports center. There is a ski station on the Certova Hora mountain with about 10 km of ski slopes, and several dozen kilometers of ski slopes around the city. In summer, hiking and cycling are also very popular, including trips to the picturesque Mulawa Falls and walks on the educational path on beekeeping. A big attraction of Harrachov is the eight-hill ski complex, which includes the 185-meter mammoth hill, which until recently had regular World Cup competitions.
