Alpnach is a mountain tourist village on Lake Lucerne. It is a good base for hiking in the area. The Pilatus massif rises above it, which can be accessed by the steepest cogwheel railway in the world.
The village is now primarily a tourist center. There are several hundred kilometers of hiking trails in its vicinity, as well as numerous climbing routes. An additional attraction of Alpnach is Lake Lucerne, for which you can go kayaking or go on a cruise. On the shore there are also beaches and recreational areas, as well as walking and cycling paths.
The most attractive place in the Alpnach area is the Pilatus peak. There is a viewing platform and a hotel built in the second half of the 19th century. You can reach the top by the Pilatus Kulm cog railway. It has been operating since 1889 and is one of the greatest attractions in the region.
