Deminanowska Dolina is a tourist destination in the Low Tatras. It occupies a mountain valley of the same name, and its territory includes magnificent caves with a rich dripstone form, numerous hiking trails and the largest Slovak ski resort Jasná Nízke Tatry.
The town was created by combining several settlements that had functioned in the valley for several hundred years. Despite the large area of permanent residents, there are less than 300 residents. There are, however, many guesthouses, hotels, apartments and houses for rent. Most of the area of the village is covered with forests.
The main ridge of the Low Tatras with the peaks of Chopok and Dumbier rises above the Demänovská Valley. You can go to Chopok, where the mountain chalet stands, by a modern gondola lift, which is part of the Jasná Nízke Tatry ski resort in winter. There are also many hiking trails leading to Chopok and Dumbier, which are excellent viewpoints. The trail also runs along the main ridge of the Low Tatras and can be used to continue the hike for the next few days.
The greatest attractions of Demänovská Valley are the local caves. The Demänovská Cave of Liberty and the Demänovská Ice Cave are open to the public. Both are visited with a guide along a carefully marked and illuminated route. The caves have a wonderful dripstone form and are among the most beautiful in Slovakia.
