Demanovska Valley

Local name: Demänovská Dolina

Demänovská Valley is located on the northern side of the ridge of the Low Tatras. It is the largest valley of this mountain group and one of the most visited places in the mountains of Slovakia. In the 15-kilometer valley there are the famous Wolności and Lodowa caves. In its upper part there is the Chopok-Jasna ski station. It is also a good starting point for hiking in the Low Tatras.

The Demänovská valley stretches between the peaks of Chopok, Dumbier, Derese and Krupova Hola. The main ridge of the Low Tatras exceeds 2000 meters above sea level. In the upper part of the valley, from where many hiking trails begin, a large ski station, Jasna. The gondola lift here operates throughout the year, allowing access to the very top of Chopok.

Within the valley there are crowds of tourists visited caves, Wolności and Lodowa. In the upper part lies the largest pond in the Low Tatras, Vrbice Lake.
