Giewont - 1894 m

Local name: Giewont - 1894 m n.p.m.

Giewont is one of the most popular and most frequently reached summits in the Polish Tatras. The massif is 1894 m above sea level and at its base lies Zakopane, perfectly visible from the main top of this mountain range, the Great Giewont.

There are several hiking trails of varying difficulty leading to Giewont. The popularity of Giewont is so great that in the summer season there are queues on the way to the top - sometimes very long. However, the view from the top is worth the effort and waiting. Tourists can admire the surrounding massive valleys: Bystra, Kondratowa, Mała Łąka, and Strążyska.

Giewont is included in the area of the Tatra National Park. The massif is overgrown with interesting mountain vegetation, including rare species. Among them are the orange ragwort (Senecio auranticus), the halberd willow, the false orchid, and the field locoweed. On the rocky mountainsides of Giewont, in winter, Tatra chamois can be seen.
