Little Fatra is a mountain group located in western Slovakia, near the villages of Terchova, Vratna and Martin. It is divided into Fatra Luczańska and Krivanska. These are very scenic and spectacular mountains with numerous rock outcrops. Karst phenomena occur here. These are also areas used by skiers. A large center operates in the Vratna valley.
Little Fatra is the fourth highest mountain group in Slovakia. Its highest peak, Wielki Krywń reaches a height of 1709 m above sea level. Thanks to the exposed ridges and peaks, these are very scenic mountains. From the trails you can enjoy extensive panoramas of the Low Tatras, Velka Fatra, Tatra Mountains and the Żywiec Beskids.
Little Fatra is made of granite rocks with a dolomite-lime coating. It creates rocky peaks, but at the same time is exposed to water and frost. The resulting deep valleys and gorges, of which the Vratna Valley is the most famous. Little Fatra is very well developed for tourists. The cut is a network of walking trails. There are also numerous tourist hostels.
