Skalnatá dolina
Local name: Skalnatá dolina
Lomnická dolina called Skalnata Dolina by Slovaks is located at the foot of Tatranská Lomnica, above the village of the same name. It is a glacial valley, in the upper part of which there is a periodically drying Łomnicki Pond (Skalnate Pleso). The valley is developed for skiing purposes. In addition to the lifts, there is also an astronomical observatory, a hostel and the former Encian hotel.
The Łomnicka Valley is located in the High Tatras. It descends towards Tatranska Lomnica by two thresholds. Tourist routes lead through it to Łomnicka Przełęcz and to the neighboring valleys. The main Tatra main line also runs through here.
Łomnicka Valley is often visited by tourists. There is the lower station of the cable car to the summit of Tatranska Lomnica and the lift to the Łomnicka Pass. Its surroundings are very scenic, which can be seen from the observation tower on Łomnicki Pond.
