Bușteni is a small tourist town situated in the valley between the Bucegi and Baia mountains. It is an excellent base for hiking trips, and in the village itself there is an Art Nouveau palace and a lot of villa buildings from the beginning of the 20th century.
The town is primarily a mountain resort with several ski slopes, lifts, the Busteni-Babele cable car , which can take you to the ridge of the Bucegi Mountains and the remains of the former spa buildings.
Interesting places in the town itself are the Caraiman Monastery , surrounded by impressive mountain peaks and built by the Romanian prime minister from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Gheorghe Cantacuzino, Cantacuzino Castle . The Cezar Petrescu Memorial House also has an interesting architecture and collections.
The main attractions of Bușteni are primarily related to the location of the village at the foot of the mountains popular among tourists. Bucegi is one of the most spectacular ranges in the Romanian Carpathians. They are characterized by steep slopes and a flat, exposed plateau with numerous rock outcrops. Among them are the famous Rocks of Babele , close to which can be reached by cable car.
Omu Peak (2505 m) rises above Bușteni, the highest in the Bucegi Mountains. Coștila ( 2,498 meters above sea level) with a transmitting mast, Caraiman Mountain with the Cross of Heroes and the nearby Caraiman refuge are also popular excursion destinations. Further down in the valley you can go to the spectacular Urlatoarea Waterfall .
