Seven Ladders Canyon
Local name: Canionul Șapte Scări
The picturesque gorge, carved by the Șapte Scări stream, lies in the Piatra Mare massif. It consists of 7 natural terraces which give it its name. Their total length is approx. 160 m. They measure from 2.5 to 15 m in height, and the difference in levels between the lowest and the highest of them is 58 m. The stream flowing through the canyon consists of 7 waterfalls.
A well-marked trail runs along the gorge. It consists of stone steps, steel stairs and viewing platforms from which you can observe the flowing water and individual waterfalls. The whole structure is secured with barriers, so it can also be safely crossed with children.
The best way to get to the canyon is from Timișu de Jos. There is a trail from it that takes about an hour on foot.
