Kutno is a city with a long and rich history, with many interesting monuments. In September 1939, one of the most important battles of the September campaign, the Battle of Bzura, took place nearby.

The beginnings of the town date back to the 14th century. Until the 19th century it was in private hands. As a result of numerous historical turmoil, it lost its municipal rights several times, only to regain them after some time. A reminder of a long history is the old town that stretches between two markets connected by Królewska Street.

The heart here is the Market Square with the classicist town hall. Currently, it houses the Regional Museum with an interesting exhibition on the history and culture of the area. While visiting the center of Kutno, you can also see many historic tenement houses with decorated facades.

Among the attractions of Kutno is also the Museum of the Battle of Bzura. It is located in the Spring of Nations Park, in the former Mniewski family chapel. It presents military items, military memorabilia and uniforms of Polish soldiers from September 1939.

There are also several interesting palaces in the city, including the Gierałty Palace, which is now the seat of a music school, and the Saski Palace, where August III stayed during his travels, and in 1812 Napoleon Bonaparte stayed for one night.
