The castle in Oporow is a brick castle erected in Gothic style. It is located in the village of Oporno near Kutno. Nowadays, since 1945, there is a museum in Oporowský chateau. The exposition of the castle museum is a collection of various epochs, some of them: paintings and other valuable objects, referring to the former castle owners.
The castle was built in 1434 - 1449 by Bishop Kuyavian Wladyslaw Oporowski. The beginning of the castle complex in Oporow was a knight's tower from the 15th century, situated on an island on the river Słudwi.
Legend says that between the castle and the Pauline monastery there was an underground passage. There was a relict castellan and a pre-monastery. One day the tunnel collapsed, burying the lovers. To this day they hear their wail. Another legend tells about "White Lady", castellan Barbara Tarnowska. One of her servants on the deathbed has converted to Catholicism. Castellan ordered to beat a priest, running to the servant. The priest died, and the castellan met the punishment, her ghost went astray.
