The geometrical center of Poland was marked on Friday, an inconspicuous village between Łódź and Kutno, which had city rights until the 17th century. A large monument symbolizing the center of the country was erected in the very center of the village. Previously, in its place was a huge size stone.
The designation of the center of Poland on Friday is rather arbitrary and corresponds primarily to the intuitive understanding of what the geometric center of the country is to be. In this case, it was marked at the intersection of lines running from the four most advanced points of the Polish territory: from the north it is Jastrzębia Góra, from the south - the southeast slope of Opołonka in the western Bieszczady band, from the east it is the knee of the Bug near Zosin, and from west - Odra bend near Cedynia.
