Church and monastery of Of the Immaculate Conception

Local name: Kościół i klasztor pw. Niepokalanego Poczęcia NMP

A historic early baroque church from the mid-seventeenth century, connected with the adjacent building of a brick, two-story monastery. The interior of the monastery houses valuable furnishings. The rococo main altar with the painting of the Immaculate Conception and the painting of Our Lady of Częstochowa attracts the eye with rich decorations. The side altars, made by the eighteenth-century master woodcarver, Franciszek Etner, are also extremely valuable. The rococo organs, confessionals and the pulpit are also noteworthy.

The Bernardines lost the Church of the Immaculate Conception during the January Uprising as part of the repression for helping the participants of this uprising. For a short time, the temple and the monastery were in the hands of representatives of another order - the Jesuits. However, the Bernardines returned to the church in 1946.
