Drjanowo is a small town at the foot of Stara Planina, famous for its 12th century monastery and the nearby Baczo Kiro cave.

Although the settlement in the place of today's town already existed in antiquity, its greatest development took place during the period of the Bulgarian national revival. At that time, a thriving center of carpentry, woodcarving and carving developed here. These traditions continue to this day.

The greatest attraction of Drjanowo is the Monastery of Michael the Archangel, whose origins date back to the 12th century. Its present appearance is due to the reconstruction after fires carried out in the mid-19th century. Inside you can see the iconostasis and full liturgical equipment. Near the monastery, there is the Baczo Kiro Cave, which is open to the public and lies in the canyon of the Andaka and Drjanowo rivers.

Drjanovo is also famous for the famous Bulgarian architect Kolyu Picheto, who was born here. The city is home to the Kolyu Ficheto Historical Museum with an exhibition dedicated to his work and life. Another interesting object is the Icon Museum.

The vicinity of Drjanowo can be a destination for hiking. There are deep rock canyons here, and the Sinit Vir Waterfall is an exceptionally picturesque place.
