Rose Museum

Local name: Музей на розата

The museum is dedicated to the rose industry and Damascus roses from the Tringipetala variety cultivated in Bulgaria since the 17th century. The museum's collection includes over 15,000 exhibits related to the cultivation of roses and the production of rose oil. The permanent exhibition is spread over two exhibition halls.

In the museum you can see, among others tools for working in rose gardens, containers for the storage and export of rose oil and rose water. A warehouse of rose oil was reconstructed here and the first laboratory for testing rose oil, which was established in 1912 by a chemistry teacher from the local school, Hristo Jaramov. An interesting fact is the rose oil vessel, which was last used in 1947, but still smells of roses.

Every year, on the first weekend of June, the traditional Rose Festival is organized in Kazanłyk. It was celebrated for the first time in 1903.
