The Ethnographic Museum, dedicated to the reconstruction of the traditional Bulgarian way of life, culture and crafts, was opened in 1964 and was the first museum of its kind in the country. There are 50 different buildings and facilities on its territory. Among them is a thoroughly restored historic watermill from the second half of the 18th century.
In the museum, you can see traditional residential houses and farm buildings. The houses mainly represent the so-called Bulgarian Revival. Most have two floors and bay windows. It is worth paying special attention to Saakov's house with 21 windows and richly decorated facade. There are also craft workshops representing about 20 traditional, regional crafts. Among them are wood carving, pottery and furriers.
The museum has souvenir shops and restaurants. You can try traditional Bulgarian dishes there.
