The vast karst cave is 2,442 m long, which makes it one of the largest in Bulgaria. The entrance to it is 35 m wide and 30 m high. About 40 m from the entrance there is a spacious hall, and behind it two branches run off the main gallery. One stream flows, and in the other one can see picturesque stalactites and stalagmites.
Numerous traces of human presence dating back to the Neolithic period have been found in the main hall. They are currently kept in the permanent collection of the local branch of the museum in Lovech. When visiting the cave, it is also worth paying attention to the two large openings through which sunlight shines through, creating a picturesque view.
The cave is one of the three most important refuges for wintering bats in Europe. The colony wintering there consists of more than 35,000 individuals of various species. Bats from 14 species live there all year round, including 4 listed in the Red Book of Endangered Species.
