Zoo
Local name: Зоологическа градина
The zoo is the second largest in the country, right after the Sofia Zoo. Currently, it is home to over 400 animals representing about 70 species from all continents. One of the main attractions are the only white Bengal tigers in the country.
Predators are represented by brown bears, lions, jaguars, wolves, lynxes and badgers. You can also see deer, llamas, roe deer, mouflons and reindeer. It is worth paying attention to the enclosures and aviaries for birds where ostriches, emus, parrots and waterfowl such as flamingos, ducks and swans live. There is no aquarium in the zoo, but there is a terrarium with turtles, iguanas and boa snakes.
The history of the garden dates back to 1957. Its first inhabitants were two bears, Ivanka and Dimitrinka. At the entrance to the zoo there is a wooden sculpture of them.
