One of the most important seaports in Great Britain. For centuries, the city was associated with the sea. The largest passenger ships sailed from here, including the HMS Titanic. Because of the great war damage, not many monuments have survived in the city.
Southampton is known primarily for its relationship with the sea. To this day, you can walk along the quays, where merchant and war ships were moored in the past. The modern SeaCity Museum opened in 2010 reminds of maritime traditions. Every year in September, one of the largest maritime festivals in Europe is held in Southampton. Yachts and ships from around the world come to the Boat Show. The exhibition grounds are located in Mayflower Park.
Tudor House is Southampton's most valuable landmark. It dates from the 16th century and is a large building with a frame structure. Inside you can see exhibitions presenting the history of the city and the lives of its inhabitants. In Southampton you can also see the gothic gate leading to the port areas.
