New Forest National Park

The New Forest National Park covers primarily the areas of pastures, forests and heaths for which it is known. There are burial mounds from the Bronze Age, remnants of Iron Age settlements and the ruins of a Roman villa. The area is crossed by numerous walking and cycling paths, you can also go horse riding. This is one of the last areas in the British Isles where forest cicadas can be found.

There are many animal species in the New Forest, including deer, roe deer, fallow deer, and Indian uniforms. Herds of semi-wild horses and ponies graze here. Of the reptiles, there are quite a few grass snakes, sand lizards and snakes. In turn, the most interesting representatives of the flora are heathers and insectivorous sundews.

The history of New Forest Park dates back to the 11th century and the reign of William I the Conqueror, who often organized royal hunts in its territory. As early as 1086, this area was entered as "Nova Foresta" in the register of all land, called the Domesday Book.
