Zuberec is a tourist center in the Western Tatras, picturesquely situated at the entrance of the Rohacka Valley and the Rohace peaks. In summer, it is a good starting point for the surrounding mountain trails, and in winter, it is a base for skiers coming to the Roháče-Spálená Ski Area.
The village was founded in the 16th century at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, in historical Orava. A few old wooden houses have survived to our times, but most of the buildings are now made of brick. The most important tourist attraction in Zuberec is the Orava Village Museum, an open-air museum, to which huts and farm buildings with furnishings from the entire region of Slovak Orava have been transferred.
Today, Zuberec is primarily a holiday and ski resort. Due to its location, it is an excellent base for people who are going to the Rohaczy region, incl. over the Rohackie Ponds and the Rohacka Valley. There are also many other possibilities for excursions to the Western Tatras region.
In winter, the Roháče-Spálená Ski Center operates in the village. There are over 20 km of ski runs of varying difficulty here. There are ski lifts, a small snow park, equipment rentals and dining facilities.
