Pieniny National Park is the oldest of all 23 national parks in Poland. It was established in 1932 and contains the most wonderful corners of the Middle Pieniny. The area of Pieniny National Park is inhabited by very interesting fauna and flora which are to be found nowhere else in the country.
Located in the Pieniny, the national park covers the area of 23,46km2. Every year, over half a million tourists walk the park tracks which total length amounts to almost 35km. The areas included in Pieniny National Park are Three Crowns Massif, Pieniny Czorsztyńskie, Pieninki, and the Dunajec River Gorge.Because of the diverse terrain and microclimate, Pieniny National Park is inhabited by specific fauna and flora. The most interesting plant species are Pieniny wallflower, Pieniny dandelion, Pieniny centaury, Zawadzki's chrysanthemums, and savin juniper. Animals which can be spotted during walks are badger, wildcat, lynx and black stork.Less
