The Dunajec Castle is one of the most beautiful and important historical buildings in the Polish part of the Carpathians. It was probably built in the years 1320-1325 and was erected in the place of the previously existing defensive structure. The name of the castle comes from the river that flows at its foot. From the castle there is a magnificent view of Lake Czorsztyn.
For guests who want to know better the castle interiors and feel the medieval climate on their own skin, guest rooms have been prepared. There are rooms and apartments in the castle, rooms in the Custom House (a wooden building in the castle), and rooms in the so-called Hen House.According to legend, in the 18th century the Dunajec Castle was inhabited by the Incas, who were supposed to be the descendants of the famous Tupac Amaru II, the commander of the Indian uprising against the Spaniards.
