Smołdzino is a tourist town located on the outskirts of the Słowiński National Park. This is also where his headquarters are located. The area is known for its shifting sand dunes.
The village was inhabited by Slovenes in the past, it was founded in the Middle Ages. The early Baroque church from the 17th century and the park, where the palace of the owners of the local property used to stand, have survived to our times.
Today's Smołdzino is primarily a tourist town with numerous guesthouses, private accommodation and summer houses. Although it is not located by the sea, it takes only a few minutes to get to the nearest bathing areas, for example at the Czołpino Beach. The area is perfect for active tourism.
Hiking trails begin in Smołdzino, leading to the highest hill in the area, Rowokół, with an observation tower on it. You can also go on a trip to the moving Łeba dunes located within the Słowiński National Park, which is the most important attraction of Smołdzino. In the area there are, among others Dune Czołpińska and Wydma Łącka. The lighthouse in Czołpino and the Zatopiony Las near Czołpino are also popular walking places.
Apart from the Baltic Sea, there are also two coastal lakes, Gardno and Łebsko, in the surrounding areas. You can go kayaks, boats and pedal boats on both of them, and cruises on the Łebsko Lake are also organized.
Smołdzino is the seat of the Słowiński National Park. There is also the Natural History Museum of the Słowiński National Park with exhibitions devoted to the wandering dunes and their natural environment and formation. In the area, on the former military training ground from World War II, there is an unusual museum - the Rocket Launcher Museum.
