Sliema is the most famous resort in Malta. Modern buildings with numerous hotels and apartment buildings predominate here. It is considered an exclusive resort and is intended for demanding tourists, and the local beaches are mostly rocky.
Initially, Sliema was supposed to be a small holiday resort for the inhabitants of nearby Valletta. You can get to the capital from here by the Valetta - Sliema ferry across the bay. With time, however, due to good conditions for relaxation and the construction of an increasing number of hotels, it became the main resort of the island. Currently, its buildings are dominated by hotels and apartment buildings with holiday apartments.
Visiting Sliema is primarily a walk along the promenade and the adjacent streets. In the evening, a particularly beautiful view of Sliema Bay and Valletta on its other side can be admired from the promenade. There is also a small, picturesque Independence Garden in the city and a unique Koci Park. The oldest monument in Slieme is Fort Tigne from the Napoleonic era.
Tourists come to Sliema primarily for its holiday attractions. There are rocky beaches, such as Fond Għadir Beach and Exiles Beach, where you can sunbathe and swim in the sea. After a day at the beach, restaurants, bars and clubs with a thriving nightlife await guests.
