Independence Garden Sliema is a green space created in the city center, right on the promenade, in the immediate vicinity of the beach. For a long time, the area of today's garden was a cultivated field. From 1990 it turned into a recreational area full of greenery, fountains and ponds. A public playground was created for the youngest.
An interesting fact about Independence Garden is the wireless, free Internet access. The garden offers shade under large umbrellas and refreshment in the vicinity of the fountains, safe play areas for children and relaxation for adults. All this made it a popular meeting place for tourists and residents of Sliema returning from the beach.
The garden has a bar with drinks and snacks. The Independence Garden's hallmark is a sitting tomcat of a supernatural size, painted in all colors of the rainbow.
