BACOLI tourist attractions

Bacoli is a coastal city, the appearance of which is the result of an expansion from the second half of the 20th century. Its monuments are much less visible at first glance than in other towns in the area, but they are no less valuable. There are numerous archaeological sites from Greek and Roman times.

Today's Bacoli is located several kilometers from Naples and its life is largely associated with this city. It is treated as a residential suburb that experienced dynamic development in the second half of the 20th century.

However, the history of Bacoli is much longer. In this area, the first Greek colony of Cuma was founded in the 8th century. Bacoli itself began to develop at the turn of the 2nd and 1st centuries BC and quickly became a seaside resort popular among the Roman elite. Next to it, there was the second resort, on the site of which the Baia Archaeological Park operates. There were numerous villas in Bacoli, the remains of which are mosaics. You can also see an underground water tank and the remains of the theater.

Among the attractions of Bacoli is also the Baia underwater park, where you can see sunken sculptures and architectural elements of the old city while diving. A very picturesque place is the Capo Miseno Cape with a lighthouse, to which a walking path leads.
