The museum is located in the chapel of the Virgin Mary built in the sixteenth century, and expanded during the reign of Prince Sansevero, Raimondo di Sangro in the seventeenth century. This is one of the most secret places in Naples. The chapel is filled with sculptures ordered by the prince, including the famous statue of Christ shrouded in a shroud, which looks like real material. In the second room are presented "anatomical models" made by the prince from real human skeletons, on which the circulatory and muscular systems were restored.
