The museum is located in the former palace of Charles III Bourbon built in the mid-eighteenth century. King, who is an art lover, moved here his collection of paintings, which was the legacy of the Farnese family. The palace rooms and private apartments present works of Italian and European painting from the 16th to the 19th century, including Titian, Bruegel and Bernini. On the top floor there is the National Gallery with an exhibition of 19th and 20th century art, while private apartments display jewelry and handicrafts.
