A castle that is one of the symbols of Naples, standing next to the port and visible from ships arriving in the city. It was built in the 13th century by Charles of Anjou, who moved the capital of the Kingdom of Sicily from Palermo to Naples. It is a Gothic fortress on a quadrangle plan, with massive towers. The interior of the castle today houses a museum, where you can see, among others, representative rooms, royal apartments and collections of weapons, jewelry and handicrafts.
