Lenggries is a mountain resort and small ski resort in the Alps. The ruins of a medieval castle and a baroque church have been preserved here, and the area is conducive to active tourism.

The village was founded in the Middle Ages, and the Hohenburg Castle stood on one of the surrounding hills. Currently, only ruins remain. The village houses the baroque Hohenburg Palace, which belonged to the dukes of Luxembourg in the 19th century. Currently, in a rebuilt version, it is used by the local school.

The surroundings of Lenggries are very picturesque and the mountain scenery invites to hiking. A popular destination is the Bauneck viewpoint and the Garland Memorial Lake. In winter, there is a ski station above the village with several slopes of varying difficulty. It is operated by the Lenggries roller coaster, which is also used by tourists in summer to get to higher-altitude trails.
