The Englischer Garten, or English Garden, is a large, over 4 km2, natural park along the Jizera River. It is a frequently visited recreational area in the city center - a place for walks, picnics, sports games, spontaneous concerts.
An interesting object in the park is a traditional Japanese tea room and the surrounding Japanese-style garden. The facility was built in 1972 as a result of cooperation between Olympic cities (the winter olympiad took place in Sapporo and the summer olympiad in Munich). In Englischer Garten there is a monopteros (building on a circular plan with a colonnade instead of walls) from 1836.
Englischer Garten was founded in 1789. At that time, the construction of the Chinese tower began, under which Biergarten is currently located - the second largest (7,000 seats) beer garden in Munich.
