MALÁ ÚPA tourist attractions

+1 attraction

Malá Úpa is a tourist and recreational place at the foot of the Śnieżka Mountain in the Giant Mountains. It has a good accommodation base, and in winter there are several ski lifts here. There are many hiking trails in the area.

The village was founded in the 16th century and was initially inhabited by lumberjacks brought from Tyrol. With time, iron ore and arsenic were mined here. Tourist traditions date back to the beginning of the 19th century, when winter sleigh trips were started, incl. to Kowary.

Today's Malá Úpa is primarily guesthouses, agritourism farms and mountain chalets, which are the base for tourists coming to this area. Many of them are historic, wooden buildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

In winter, several ski lifts operate here, and the Růžová hora cable car operates all year round. Within the village there is the peak of Śnieżka on the Polish-Czech border. The trails also lead to the Okraj Pass and the main ridge of the Karkonosze Mountains.
