The origins of the village date back to the 13th century, and its name comes from a monastery located here in the Middle Ages. It was burned down by the Hussites and was never rebuilt. There is also a gothic Holy Trinity church with baroque interiors in the village.

The town has a very intimate character and many historic Sudeten huts have been preserved in its buildings. Today they are used as guesthouses and agritourism farms. For tourists, Klášterec nad Orlicí is a good starting point for the surrounding trails.

The biggest attraction of Klášterec nad Orlicí is the Gate of the Earth nature reserve, which covers the gorge of the Dzika Orlica river. This place is characterized by numerous interesting rock formations, a deep rock gorge and a beautiful forest. There are several hiking trails here.
