Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary
Local name: Kostel Nanebevzetí Panny Marie
The church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bartosovice is a baroque building that is still being rebuilt after the destruction of the Second World War. Built on a cross plan, the temple is currently covered with a glass roof.
The church was built in 1723-1733. It was designed by GB Alliprandi. It is a stone, single-nave structure, covered with a ridge roof. The facade is slightly bent and devoid of decorations. Next to it are two square towers set at an angle.
The church was destroyed on May 10, 1945 during the shelling of the Red Army. Until 1990 it remained in ruins. It is currently under reconstruction. The original walls were covered with a new roof. Its part above the presbytery and transept is glazed. The towers received low pointed spiers, which differ from the original Baroque appearance. The interior is free of plasters and any decorations. There is only a simple main altar and a cross.
