Earth Gate
Local name: Zemská brána
The Ziemska Brama nature reserve is located in the Orlické Mountains, on the border with Poland. It covers the valley of the Dzika Orlica River, which here breaks through the mountain ridge. It creates a deep valley in hard gneiss rocks, whose slopes resemble a huge rock gate.
The valley of Dzika Orlica, several kilometers long, is a popular place for walking and hiking. Due to its unique landscape and rich vegetation, it is protected by a nature reserve. A tourist trail leads through it. The banks of the valley are steep and the river current is very fast. The bottom, covered with stones, creates rapids and small cascades. At the beginning of the 21st century, a stone arch bridge in the valley was rebuilt, built in 1903–1905 by Czech and Italian engineers.
