Museum of Crafts

Local name: Muzeum Řemesel

The Craft Museum is housed in a nineteenth century granary. About 50 various crafts that were present in the Czech Republic at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries are presented here. The exhibitions present workshop equipment, items, documents and certificates produced in them, which gave entry to the profession and photos showing craftsmen at work.

The museum was founded by a local entrepreneur, Pavel Tecla. Is the largest exhibition of this type in the Czech Republic. The crafts presented here are divided into three parts. On the ground floor you can see the tools and equipment of traditional craftsmen workshops such as shoemaker, blacksmith, carpenter or wheelwright. The first floor presents village life, farm equipment and crafts related to food production. There is, among others, a mill model from the beginning of the 20th century. On the last floor public works were performed by, among others, firefighters, railwaymen and guards. In the museum you can also see still working sawmill equipment as well as agricultural and farm machinery.
