Chotyně is a village in the Lusatian Mountains with a small spa in the past. Its most important monument is the Grabstejn Castle with a preserved Renaissance chapel.

The town was founded in the Middle Ages and had an agricultural character. In the 19th century, a strong mineral water spring with a high iron content was discovered here. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, a small spa based on these waters operated in Chotyn, but it fell into decline in the interwar period. To this day, however, you can still see the spring with a slightly reddish water.

From the very beginning, the village was associated with the neighboring Grabstejn Castle. The initially Gothic border fortress was rebuilt in the Renaissance style over time. The attraction of the chateau and the whole of Chotyn is the chapel of St. Barbara, where the original Renaissance frescoes have been preserved. The castle is open to the public, and its interior houses exhibitions of arts and crafts, furniture and interior decoration from different centuries.

Due to its location, Chotyně is also a good starting point for mountain tours.
